Fig Trees

At Ty Ty Nursery we grow fig trees on our property directly in front of the warehouse office front door, so that our customers can personally examine and eat the fruit. Today, October 27th, 2013 we have an Italian sweet fig tree in the full fruiting mode that customers and employees have been eating and enjoying for over a month, and these figs will be picked daily, and they will continue to fill the tree, until the onset of the first frost.

  • Enjoy Four Different Fig Trees
Fig trees are used as a religious symbol in the Hebrew Bible, the most significent instance being Jesus Christ cursing the fig tree for being umproductive to feed himself and the desciples. This curse represented not only as the unfruitful fig tree, but metormophically on the Jewish nation that had become corrupt in its priesthood that lead to the death of Jesus. His curse on the Jews was fulfilled in 70AD when the Roman General, Titus, destroyed Jerusalem. Leaving no stone unturned and the destruction of the Temple of Solomon.
  • Exotic New Fig Trees
Fig trees were a favorite orchard tree in Biblical times in Israel, and European colonists imported the trees and dried figs into the U.S for growing and eating. Figs are richly flavored, sweet fruits, and new hybrids produce a wide range of ripe fig colors: purple, blue, black, white, yellow and even green. New fig hybrids grow the fruits as large as lemons with high sugar content, perfect for drying for winter use and cooking. Fig preserves on toast are a Southern favorite breakfast treat.
