Butternut (White) Walnut Tree

The Butternut White Walnut oval shaped kernel is easily separated from the shuck. The Butternut or also called: 'White walnut', ˜Juglans cinerea", is genetically very closely related to the black walnut, Juglans nigra, that forms a round shaped nut, with a thick corrugated shell, 2 inches long with white kernels inside; richly flavored and preferred by some people to have a superior flavor over other cultivars of walnuts. The name, 'Butternut' is accurate in describing the flavor of the kernels and the delicious, butter-like contents of the inside kernels.

Delivery Time: Nut Trees ordered during their current shipping season (usually December through May) are shipped dormant within ten days of the date of order, weather dependent. The actual delivery time will usually be within four to seven days following the date of shipping by Ty Ty Plant Nursery. Delivery time can not be guaranteed, if a package needs to arrive prior to a specific date please note in the comment section of the order or contact Ty Ty Nursery by telephone during normal business hours.

Pruning Information: Pruning may be required on Walnut trees constituting eight feet or more in size so as to comport with UPS Shipping requirements. For this reason, the Walnut tree(s) you receive may not be the actual height you ordered due to it being pruned up to one third of the total size immediately prior to shipping unless you have made prior arrangements with us to ship the product to you by motor freight. Although you should receive the size ordered if shipped by motor freight, note that shipping by motor freight will likely increase your shipping costs.

Shipping Method: UPS Ground and Motor Freight if the proper arrangements have been made by the customer prior to shipping. Shipping costs do apply on Motor Freight shipments, not covered by any sales promotions.

If plants are listed by gallon size the plant will be removed from container and have the majority of the dirt removed to allow for the best shipping.
