Forest Pansy Redbud Trees, Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy', was found originally growing as a native tree in the State of Missouri and was recently introduced into the nursery trade. This 'Forest Pansy' redbud tree cultivar grows purple leaves when they first emerge that eventually turn a yellow to red color in the fall. The green leaves are large and heart-shaped and follow the appearance of clusters of rose-pink flowers that appear on all parts of the tree trunk and twigs. Large pea pods follow the blooms of this flowering tree, and the 'Forest Pansy' redbud tree is a legume that fixes Nitrogen and enriches the soil fertility.
